AHLEI Meets AKMI: Forging Stronger Ties in Hospitality Education

On 25 April 2025, AKMI had the distinct pleasure of hosting Mrs Yamel Henrikser, EMEA Manager at the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), at our Athens headquarters. After first connecting during a virtual EVBB webinar, meeting in person allowed us to dive deeper into our shared goals and explore new avenues for collaboration.

Mrs Henrikser and our team engaged in lively discussions on a range of tourism‑focused initiatives, including two major EU‑funded projects: TourX (Erasmus+ KA2 – Centres of Vocational Excellence in Tourism, Project No 101056184) and TourEdu4All (ERASMUS‑EDU‑2023‑CB‑VET Capacity Building in the field of Vocational Education and Training, Project No 101129220).

As AHLEI’s exclusive educational partner in Greece, AKMI delivers AHLEI’s globally recognized certifications—equipping hospitality professionals in guest services, revenue management, housekeeping, food & beverage operations and beyond. During the visit, we discussed co‑developing specialized certification tracks aligned with TourX and TourEdu4All outcomes, hosting joint workshops and piloting digital learning modules that blend AHLEI’s expertise with AKMI’s regional insights.

Inspired by our shared vision for high‑quality vocational training, both teams are now mapping out next steps: from co‑created training modules and masterclasses in Athens to expanded mobility opportunities across our network. By combining AHLEI’s international credentials with AKMI’s local innovation, we’re poised to deliver even more powerful learning experiences for Greece’s hospitality and tourism professionals—and to set a new standard for vocational excellence across Europe.
