Europe is our Stage!
From November 27 to 28, the first NextGen Hospitality Trophy took place in Potsdam/Teltow as part of the TourX mobility program.
Initiated and conceived by DEHOGA Brandenburg and inspired by the idea of linking the Brandenburg vocational competition in the hospitality industry more closely with the TourX project in the future, this competition brought together young talents from ENAIP Veneto in Italy, ASOFUER in Spain, AKMI and Metropolitan College, Greece, and teams from the Kongresshotel Potsdam and the AHORN Seehotel Templin, Germany, with the AVT in Teltow hosting this premiere event.
The NextGen Hospitality Trophy is more than just a competition— it is an exchange of skills, cultures, and ideas in the spirit of Erasmus+: Learning from each other, growing together, and making international friends. It combines the European Erasmus+ program with the practical experience of the participants in their vocational training and further education and the lively team spirit of the sending organizations.
In the NextGen Hospitality Trophy, teams compete against each other in three areas: kitchen, restaurant, and hotel/reception. Each group has a specific task that must be solved within the team.
In addition to the core tasks of the competition, the teams test their theoretical knowledge in special warm-up workshops. This gives them security and self-confidence.
The competition tasks reflect the key competencies of the hospitality industry: creativity and technique in the kitchen, professionalism and guest orientation in service, and organization and communication in the front office. Only through close cooperation between all three areas can the team be successful.
At its core, the Trophy is a competition in which there are only winners: every participant gains new experiences, intercultural insights, and professional recognition. It is not about defeating others, but about discovering one’s own strengths, working in a team, and celebrating professional excellence together.
Following this successful premiere, DEHOGA Brandenburg, ENAIP Veneto, ASOFUER, and EHE will continue this competition in 2026.
The NextGen Hospitality Trophy is also a perfect opportunity to test the TourX Hospitality Toolbox developed in the TourX project in its current pilot phase with teachers, students, trainees, and their instructors, thereby giving the project a long-term perspective.
It is not only the guidelines and theoretical documents that have been developed, but also the active partners who make up the special spirit of this CoVE in Tourism in the TourX project.
That is “Living Excellence, inspired by Erasmus+.”
