AKMI is also leading the Knowledge Triangle in Greece, establishing the regional partnership between VET and the market in Tourism in partnership with the Region of Attica along with the Greek partners.
AKMI is responsible for the Design of the TourX Toolbox for Excellence (WP3), an extensive set of tools designed to serve the TourX mission that is to strengthen all the Tourism stakeholders and to better connect the VET with the market needs, the employees, and the skills provision in the VET for tourism. This toolbox will support the Tour-X network entailing different tools for all different actors in the Tourism sector.
The TourX toolbox is designed based on a holistic approach to address the weaknesses of the Tourism sector and better equip the actors with skills for the future. It will be also based on the good practice of “Hospitality Labs”, an innovative program that simulated real workstations (hotel room, restaurant, front desk) for the Tourism sector students to practice in real facilities of a hospitality enterprise. “Hospitality Labs” derived from the VET2Business project, a former project where German and Greek partners cooperated successfully for the introduction of new VET curricula in the tourism sector.
AKMI as a leader of VET2Business in partnership with IME GSEVEE and DEHOGA had the first experience of the concept of the knowledge triangle, as VET2Business brought together VET providers and market representatives of the tourism and hospitality sector to better address the needs of the latter. Tour-X aims to build on that experience, using the good practice of the “Hospitality Labs” program and expanding it.
AKMI as the lead partner of the Tour-X Consortium has an active role in all Work Packages, supporting the Partners to deliver high-quality work and establish the first transnational platform of CoVEs in the Tourism Sector. Within this context, TourX is envisioned as a Tourism Sector Transnational Platform of regional CoVEs for the promotion of the strategic role of VET in supporting regional economic development, fostering innovation, and enhancing competitiveness and inclusion for all.
