31st Brandenburg Youth Championships in the hospitality professions

31st Brandenburg Youth Championships in the hospitality professions

Promoting young talent and highlighting the attractiveness of future careers

The hospitality industry in Germany has strong and high-calibre professional competitions at both national and state level. In the traditional professions, national teams and participation in prestigious competitions are part of a career.

But even the relatively young field of system catering already has a “traditional championship” in the form of the apprentice award.

It is becoming increasingly important for DEHOGA member companies that provide training to publicise the quality of their training in the hospitality industry and make it visible to pupils, parents and career guidance teachers.
To promote own branch young talent, DEHOGA Brandenburg organises the annual Brandenburg Youth Championships in the hospitality professions (chef, restaurant specialist and hotel specialist).

Who can take part? Trainees in the hospitality industry in Brandenburg in their 2nd or 3rd year of training and max. 27 years old and younger in the year of participation in the competition.

Procedure Digital theory preliminary decision
  • Virtual theoretical selection test
  • Participants will receive the link to access the test by email after the registration deadline
  • The duration of the test is approx. 60 minutes, online participation is possible within 24 hours
Practical part and award ceremony

The six best participants in each professional group (chef, restaurant specialist, ReVA and hotel specialist) from the preliminary round then compete against each other in the practical test.
For this purpose, competition teams are formed in which the different professions work together and present and serve their competition creations to the public in a special atmosphere.
A jury consisting of instructors and training managers judge the competition entries and select the winners.

The best from each professional group then take part in training sessions to prepare for the German Youth Championships. The competition organisers then select the Brandenburg team that will take part in the German Championships.

By taking part in the competition, the participating trainees have the opportunity to present themselves in an attractive profession in which people take centre stage and the award winners demonstrate their professional skills in daily guest service with increased confidence. The 2024 year's Brandenburg Youth Championships in the catering professions were once again an example of DEHOGA Brandenburg's commitment to supporting training companies in their marketing of young talent.

We will continue to support our best trainees on their career path in the future!
